The ALECSO Chair for International Commercial Arbitration, under the leadership of Professor Najet Brahmi of the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of Tunis, is preparing to celebrate its third anniversary, a milestone marked by significant achievements in the field of international commercial arbitration.

Among its accomplishments is the publication of the Arab Review of ALECSO Chairs, a specialized journal in arbitration law, whose third issue is currently in preparation. The Chair has also established a network of international experts dedicated to promoting and advancing arbitration. Furthermore, it has developed strategic partnerships with several universities in the Euro-Mediterranean region, including the University of Toulon and the University of Marie and Louis Pasteur in France.

Looking ahead, the Chair aims to address the professional training needs of arbitration practitioners—including lawyers, judges, notaries, and corporate executives—through a series of specialized, certified training courses. This program will launch on May 14, 2025, at ALECSO headquarters and will run for four days. International experts will lead the sessions, focusing on critical topics such as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the duty of vigilance imposed on multinational companies and foreign investors—issues central to contemporary arbitration law.

The training program will be coordinated by Professors Najet Brahmi and Filali Osman, Professor at the University of Marie and Louis Pasteur and international arbitrator, ensuring that the content is rigorous, relevant, and aligned with the latest developments in international law.

In addition, preceding the training cycle, Professors Brahmi and Osman will organize an international conference under the Chair’s auspices on the theme “Extrajudicial Mechanisms, CSR, and the Duty of Vigilance”, scheduled for May 13, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at ALECSO headquarters. The conference will convene leading experts in arbitration law and CSR to discuss contemporary challenges and developments in these fields.

Through these initiatives, the ALECSO Chair continues to play a pivotal role in the evolution of international commercial arbitration, integrating social and environmental dimensions at the core of modern dispute resolution practices.
